Best quotes from A Court of Thorns and Roses (book 1 only)

Now that I've officially finished A Court of Thorns and Roses, I wanted to look back at some of the lines

that stuck with me the most. Some made me smile, some completely shattered me, and a few had me highlighting the page immediately.

Here are some of my favorite quotes from Book One (spoiler warning if you haven't finished the book!).

🌸 Favorite Comfort Quote

"Don't feel bad for one moment about doing what brings you joy."

— Tamlin, Chapter 21

This quote instantly became one of my favorites. It's such a simple reminder, but it's something I think a lot of us need to hear.

👀 Favorite Character Introduction

"I stepped out of the shelter of my savior's arm and turned to thank him. Standing before me was the most beautiful man I'd ever seen."

— Feyre describing Rhysand, Chapter 20

The moment Rhysand walked onto the page, I knew he was going to be important. I just didn't realize how important.

🖤 Favorite "Wait... WHAT?" Quote

"It took me a long while to realize that Rhysand, whether he knew it or not, had effectively kept me from shattering completely."

— Feyre, Chapter 40

Looking back, this line completely changed how I viewed everything Rhys did Under the Mountain. It made me realize there was so much more happening beneath the surface.

😂 Favorite Out-of-Context Quote

"'I love you,' I said, and stabbed him."

— Feyre, Chapter 43

Without context, this has to be one of the funniest lines in the entire book. The emotional whiplash is unreal. 😂

🌟 Favorite Hopeful Quote

"We need hope, or else we cannot endure."

— Feyre, Chapter 44

Short, simple, and powerful. This perfectly captures the heart of the finale.

🥹 Favorite Romantic Quote

"'I love you,' he whispered, and kissed my brow. 'Thorns and all.'"

— Tamlin, Chapter 45

This was such a sweet callback to the title of the book and a beautiful way to end everything they'd been through together.

🤍 Favorite Emotional Quote

"I didn't want you to fight alone. Or die alone."

— Rhysand, Chapter 46

This line completely caught me off guard. After everything Rhys had done Under the Mountain, hearing him say this made me question everything I thought I knew about him.

💛 Favorite Quote in the Entire Book

"Be glad of your human heart, Feyre. Pity those who don't feel anything at all."

— Rhysand, Chapter 46

This was my favorite quote in the entire book. It perfectly captures one of the biggest themes of A Court of Thorns and Roses: compassion isn't weakness.

Final Thoughts ✨

One of my favorite parts of reading is finding the lines that stay with me long after I've finished the book. A Court of Thorns and Roses definitely gave me several of those moments, and I have a feeling this list is only going to grow as I continue the series.

Next up: A Court of Mist and Fury. I've heard the quotes in Book Two are even better, and I can't wait to see which ones I'll be adding to my favorites list.
