The Lo Life Lately: Summer Updates, New Routines & Little Things I’m Loving

Intro:

Hi friends! It has been a hot minute since I’ve sat down to write to all of you! My spring semester of college was busier than I could have imagined, and somewhere between classes, work, and trying to keep up with everything, The Lo Life got pushed to the side. But I’m so excited to say… I’m back!!! So, here’s a little update on what I’ve been up to lately, what I’m currently loving, and a few things that have been making my days better.

The Lo Life Lately:

I want to start this post on a positive note and share some of my wins since I've last posted. My biggest accomplishment is finishing the second semester of my freshman year of college and maintaining my 4.0 gpa! this was honestly such a huge goal of mine, and I am so happy I managed to do it. I am not going to lie though; there were a few classes that had me biting my nails as I waited for my professors to enter grades... This semester of college was filled with SO many emotions (both good and bad). So, I am beyond grateful that I was able to make it out alive. My next win has to be getting more comfortable navigating my college life. The first year after moving away from parents, living life with more agency and responsibility, and being in control of my schedule has taught me more than any self-help book could ever. I have been able to meet so many people and make a couple of friends along the way. Learning what study techniques and routines that work best for me has been a bit of a challenge, but managing my time better has been a huge game changer in that area. Another semi-win is that I am still working part-time at my student worker job while I take a few classes over the summer. Balancing classes and work have never been "easy," especially not during the summer, when all I want to do is go tan with a book and watch Love Island. Regardless, I am so blessed to be able to continue developing my skills at work and through class. I hope everyone reading this can take some time to reflect on their own personal achievements no matter how big or small they may seem!

Currently: A little peek into what’s been filling my days lately

Reading: I am sure many of you can relate to this, but I have been trying to spend less time doomscrolling before bed and reading has been my go-to replacement for that. My most recent read has been the A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas. My friend from one of my classes this past semester told me to read them, and it is safe to say that I am OBSESSED! I am currently on ACOSF (book 5), and it is not disappointing one bit.

Listening to: Let me just start by saying so I am so glad students get Spotify premium for $6.99/month because it is very rare to find me without my airpods in. My current music obsessions have been all of Ariana Grande's discography. She genuinely has a song for every situation, every vibe, and every emotion you could possibly experience. Some of my recent podcast listens include: DTFae (I am seriously addicted to the ACOTAR series, and their debriefs of the books bring a great sense of community and the hosts are HILARIOUS), SimplySoph, and Not Loveline with Trisha and Tana. I love listening to podcasts on walks, while I am at the gym, or while I clean my space. So, if anyone has any recommendations, PLEASE let me know!! I have also been hearing that audiobooks are a gamechanger, but I have yet to dip my toes in the water... Are they truly worth it?? If you think so, feel free to drop any suggestions.

Watching: As I mentioned earlier...I am watching Love Island this summer. My roommates and I still agree that season 6 is unbeatable, but season 8 has been more tolerable that season 7. I don't know how the casting team of the show manage to find the most STUNNING women, and then the boys they find don't even know how to treat a woman with basic respect...Regardless, we have been entertained with drama almost every night of the week. It is crazy to think the finale is already this weekend. My cousins have also influenced me to watch Off Campus. I will say that there were indeed some extremely cringey moments, but I am not mad about the show as a whole. Off Campus was VERY unrealistic, but very entertaining to watch while I was on the treadmill. I loved being able to debrief the show when I went to visit them for the 4th of July this past weekend.

Doing: My workouts have been all of the place lately, I cannot lie... I have been consistently getting in movement, but there is no method to the madness. I lift 2-4 times a week, run a couple times, take a random workout class, go on walks. No matter what, I do reach my 10k step goal. So, that is a win in my book. Although I will say that I am running my first full marathon in December, so I need to start actually training for that. Wish me luck!

Loving: I don't know if it's just me, but summer always puts me in a shopping mood. Some of my favorite recent purchases have been: Skims pajama set, brandy melville zip up jacket from depop, REM Beauty powder blush in the shade SkinnyDipped, NikeSkims running shorts, and a new pair of running shoes from Adidas. Some non-products that I am currently obsessed with are: my morning yogurt bowl + apple slices, reading before bed, morning walks before I go to work, and facdebook marketplace.

Closing thoughts:

Thank you so much for catching up with me and letting me share a little glimpse into my life lately! It feels so good to be writing again and bringing The Lo Life back to life.

This season has been full of change, growth, and learning how to balance all of the different parts of my life. While I definitely don’t have everything figured out, I’m excited to keep documenting the little moments, lessons, and things that make this season special.

I have so many fun ideas for future posts, from books I’m loving, recipes I’ve been making on repeat, fitness updates, and all of the little things that make everyday life a little sweeter. I can’t wait to share more with you soon! 💗
